Gracious Promise
Did you know that the most recent statistics show that 1 out of 28 children have a parent incarcerated? That is a 446% increase in 25 years. Let that sink in for a moment...even we were shocked with this one. For a bit more perspective, 1 in 50 children are currently diagnosed with Autism, and that is being considered an epidemic. Can you imagine how disruptive the sudden absence of a parent effects a child; the sadness, anger, confusion, and embarrassment they must experience? "The families left behind face shame, financial ruin, homelessness and emotional devastation. These conditions sow seeds that lead to these children being classified as 'high-risk' by the Department of Justice." (Gracious Promise) These children are your neighbors, go to school with your children, and live in the surrounding communities.
We want to take this time to highlight an 18 year ministry that could use your recognition and support. We cannot express enough how critical Gracious Promise is to those who are re-entering society and especially to their families in Kansas City, Kansas area. There's no one else like them. Truly. Our community needs them. N2LIFE Project needs them. They offer direct services that we cannot offer, such as case management, GED preparation, food, and clothing specifically for this population; and for their families, counseling services, Adopt-a-Family programs, and the program Dream LOUD for children ages 6-18. Friends, many of these programs are currently on hold due to financial constraints and there is very real concern they may have to close their doors for good. Please consider contributing to this fantastic organization.

Please take a few moments to look into what they are doing and the in-kind donations list. They could use anything from clothing, hygiene product to books, furniture, and renovation supplies.

We've had our first mentor/client match this week, with two more to follow shortly! Huzzah! In the coming months we are presenting, recruiting and offering a training at Heartland Community Church Men's Ministry. Things are rolling! Some easy and tangible ways you can show your support for our mentors and clients is listed below. N2LIFE Project does not give direct financial assistance, and mentors are only allowed to spend up to $50 a month in assistance at their discretion. Nevertheless, we do wish to directly assist in certain areas. We understand that not everyone can give up their time to be a mentor. However, there are very practical ways you can support the clients directly, as well as alleviate complications and burdens for the mentors who are so generously giving up their time and energy.
